Wake Up! It’s Arcade Fire Concert #2
Today was the 5th and final show for Arcade Fire at the Judson Memorial Church(flickr set) which Clarence and I had the pleasure of going to. It was frickin awesome. We saw semi celebrity, John Norris, amongst the crowd looking very blond and old. You can probably see him singing along in the video of Wake Up.
This show trumps the show I went to on Thursday big time. I am so glad that I was able to go twice. If you’ve never seen Arcade Fire live you have a chance to catch them in May. They will return to NYC for 3 shows and my recommendation would be to go to the last show.
Here’s some videos I took!
Wake Up. They opened with this in the crowd and I was right next to them!
My Body Is A Cage during the first encore.
Neighborhoods #2 (Laika) during the second encore and only the second half of it. My arm was tired.
UPDATE:
I was checking out NPR’s coverage of the concert and I found a slideshow. I was pretty close to the band during Wake Up so I decided to see if I was in one of the pictures. Here I am behind Regine with camera in hand recording the video posted above!

Britney Spears BALD!
Yeah yeah yeah. It’s nothing new. We’ve all seen the pictures. We all know that Britney Spears, like her equally skanky friend, Paris Hilton, prefers the hairless look. Apparently however, we have discovered this weekend that Britney really likes the bald look. So much so that she decided to shave her head as well. Oh yeah, just in case you care, she also seems to have gotten some tattoos or something. But who cares.
Check after the jump for a video and more shockingly boring pictures of Britney’s shaved noggin.

Mario Beatboxing Flute
Now that’s some freaking talent. It reminds me of the infamous Rahzel’s “If your mother only knew” beatbox. Except this is cooler because well, Mario’s cooler.
This ain’t your mama’s ice cream truck
What image pops into your head when you think of an ice cream truck? For most of us, it’s an off-white Mr. Softee truck covered with pictures of ice cream treats playing that oh-so-familiar “THE ICE CREAM MAN IS HERE” tune. Whatever it is though, it certainly isn’t this blinged out urban ice cream van you see here.
Scoop is a new company who will be selling ice cream to all the cool kids… and their parents. This is ice cream for the nightclub circuit – hot lights, funky beats, and high end ice cream served in sleek Chinese take out boxes.
The ice cream is served by “Scoop” girls wearing funky outfits selling such flavors as Criterion Ice’s Brown Bread, Vintage Marmalade and Turkish Delight, served in small, glossy black Chinese take out boxes.
There isn’t an official website yet, and these limited edition trucks will only be available in London’s East end, but I’m hoping we’ll be able to see some of these state-side once the craze catches on.

Some Arcade Fire to warm you up.
This past Thursday I braved the cold with my friend Ann for three hours to get tickets to see Arcade Fire even though Clarence and I have tickets for today. The concert was awesome and the new album Neon Bible rocks.
Here’s a couple of videos that Ann took during the concert. Check out that Neon Bible!
My Body is a Cage (2:33 is my favorite part)
Wake Up
They played in the middle of the crowd. Hard to see but it was awesome.

Boys v. Girls: Vasectomy Edition
You know as well as I do that if you’ve got some time to kill, craigslist’s best-of is a great place to turn. And that’s where the following story comes from. This girl completely gets pwned, and the best part is, she completely deserved it. Now I don’t want to spoil the story, so I’ll let you read it yourself. Full text available after the jump just in case the CL “community” ever decides to remove this awesome story.
Vasectomy: $400. Speechless look on her face: priceless.
Let’s take a look at the score so far: Boys: 2, Girls: 0. Come on, pick up the slack!

Escher’s Relativity in LEGO
I swear. With all these LEGO posts, you wouldn’t be remiss if you thought WDS was a LEGO blog. But alas, it is not! They’re just cool that way. But I’m thinking we might need to start a LEGO category to accomodate the wild world of LEGO. Anyway, check out this badass rendition of Escher’s “Relativity” done completely in LEGO by Andrew Lipson.
Check out LEGO renditions of some of Escher’s other works: “Ascending and Descending,” “Waterfall” and “Belvedere” after the jump.
Old School Tech Support
I used to work at the HelpDesk at my school and I couldn’t believe some of the things that people would say. I remember telling a nice woman that she should download some file and run it. Her response was “Files? Oh my husband will know what to do with those.” I just responded, “Yes he will” and hung up.
Here’s a video a coworker sent me making fun of n00bs.

Boys v. Girls: Valentine’s Day Edition

First off, let me just say a hearty Happy Valentine’s Day to our readers. Or if that doesn’t float your boat, then Happy Singles Awareness Day!
Now, I’m a nice guy. I don’t smell, I don’t yell, I don’t punch random people in the face: I’m a nice guy. So what did I decide to do today at work? I IMed a couple of friends “Happy Valentine’s day!” Midway through the day, I noticed a trend: the conversations with the guys after said greeting were much more interesting than with the girls. I scrolled up the conversations and realized why.
Eight out of ten girls replied with “thanks! you too!” With the exception of a couple of smilies here and there and my name thrown in once or twice, almost every girl replied with the same boring response… verbatim.
Let’s go over the guys’ responses now (in a handy list format because no two gave the same reply):
- “will you be my valentine?” followed by “where are my flowers, b*tch!“
- “thanks honey, where are you taking me tonight?“
- “shut up“
- “wtf great“
- “the weather is beautiful!” (It is obviously most certainly not!)
- etc. etc.
What can we conclude from this un-scientific, way-too-small-sample-sized, wholly unorthodox survey? Girls are boring.
Boys: 1, Girls: 0. Bring it on.
(In case you were wondering, the other two girls said “Happy Vajayjay day!” and “Happy valentine’s day!“)
Update 1: One of the guys continued the conversation by serenading me. Check the convo after the jump! Read the rest of this entry »
Ice = bad.
I had a little bit of slipping and sliding this morning but nothing too serious. If you start sliding just ride it out and STOP. The keyword being STOP in that last sentence. While I was sliding around in my car I was reminded of a video that our friend, Christina, sent to me a while ago.
