I can barely get through this post. I could barely read the article that contained said picture. This picture disturbed me even more than seeing my first japscat video all those many years ago during the spring of my youth. This is more disturbing than goatse and tubgirl put together.

Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to trivialize or make fun of this guy. I feel really bad for him. I do. I really hope they find some way to treat him, but jebus, that’s just an awful sight.

Have I got your attention? Or have I already grossed you out? If you’re still curious about the aforementioned picture, here’s a description of what awaits you after the jump:

A friend of mine has a relative who is a missionary in Eastern Europe. He recently shared photographs and the story of a man he is caring for, who has an extremely bizarre skin condition. The man has keratin-like matter growing out of the skin on hands and feet, which started when he was young, and very slowly continues to spread and grow. The areas begin as skin lesions, and the matter sprouts from those spots. The growths are very difficult to remove, and the man has so far just had to learn to live with it. There are a few medical precedents to this man’s case, but nothing is certain until more tests are done. In the meantime, the missionary is helping to make life easier for the man.

I couldn’t bring myself to post the picture on the main post, because frankly, I don’t want to see that everytime I load up WDS. Also, it would be just mean to spring that image on an unsuspecting visitor. I hear there are more images on the original page, but I didn’t have the stomach to check it out. If you’re really curious, check out BoingBoing’s coverage, and go from there.

I didn’t check my RSS reader for 3 days. I had a little free time today so I thought I’d sit down and catch up. There were a whopping 572 unread articles. Lucky for you, I’ve waded through all of them and brought you only the most interesting articles. So please excuse this (not so) short entry. And to kick it off, here’s a heart-breaking picture of Andre Agassi:

That just breaks my heart. With 60 titles under his belt, Agassi walks off the court after his last professional match amidst a champion’s ovation.

Google got it in it’s head that it wants to improve its Google Images search. Rather than pore over the millions of indexed photos by themselves, they elicit the help of the unwashed masses. But how to get the public to do your work for you? Turn it into a game!

Cherry picking at it’s finest. If you don’t know what cherry picking means, you’re probably a girl.

The perfect iTunes equalizer setting? That’s up to my ears to decide! Even though a perfect setting cannot exist, this setting does sound pretty damn good.

Hack a coke machine. Get a free coke. Lather, rinse repeat.

A guy plays Mozart’s 40th symphony with rollerblades and half-filled glass coke bottles. I bet Mozart never thought of that.

99 wolves crash into a wall, 99 wolves crash… Ok. So the song doesn’t work with wolves crashing into a wall. But this art installation of 99 wolves crashing into a glass wall surprisingly… does.

This is an ice cream / chocolate place I will definitely need to check out. Remind me!

Harry Potter fans discover a continuity error that will be fixed in the next edition–illustrating that they have no lives. No news there.

iTunes to have movie downloads for $14.99 this month. I think that’s stupid. I wouldn’t pay $14.99 for iTunes-resolution video. That also better not be the only Apple news announced on September 12. I want those freakin’ Meroms in the MacBooks.

Who said squirrels are scary, feral vermin? They need love too.

The prettiest subway station in the city? Yeah, I wasn’t expecting much either. But I was proved wrong.

Missing Munch paintings discovered! Now we can all enjoy the Scream again! Ahhhhh! I scream for Munch’s Scream! Ok, I’ll stop. Sorry.

McDonald’s, being the ever-responsible-corporate-entity that they are has redesigned their McFlurry cups so that hedgehogs can’t get their heads stuck in them anymore. Who knew that was a problem? I can’t wait until McDonald’s makes their cups so small that humans can’t get obese from them anymore. HA!

Morgan Library: another place I need to check out. And judging from this picture, a place I may want to spend a lot of time in.

Diddy has to pee. Let’s watch Diddy pee. Let’s hear what Diddy has to say about pee. Let’s slap a reality show together about it and put it on MTV.

Wikipedia has a massive 14 megapixel shot of San Francisco in ruins after the 1906 earthquake. And this was before digital imagery. It’s simply… breathtaking.

Do you remember this commercial? I swear, it brings me back to my living room all those years ago as a wee little lad…

That’s all folks (thank God). I’m spent.

This post brought to you by the Number 13 and the symbols eo&rg. Thank you.

I saw this picture today on Gizmodo. It’s an ad for Steelcube’s Tilevision: a “totally waterproof” LCD TV based on LG-Philips’ TFT technology. Hooray! A totally waterproof television for your bathroom. Ok. I’ll be honest, I really don’t care about the TV. I wanted to review the bathroom. I added handy labels to help you follow along:

The first thing I noticed when I saw this picture is that it has a bidet. That’s awesome. Every bathroom should have a plumbing fixture that shoots jets of water up your ass. Just keep small children who may think it’s a water fountain away.

Towel Rack. What’s it doing all the way over here? If I’m taking a bath in the tub, where the hell am I supposed to put my towel? There’s no way I’m walking dripping wet to that towel rack a continent away. It’s even too far from the sink. The towel rack by the sink should be immediately accessible (i.e. I should be able to comfortably reach out and touch my towel). This towel rack requires like 2 extra steps.

Giant empty tile space. All I can think when I see this unforgiving wasteland is Brrrrr! Just imagine trekking across all that freezing tile in the middle of the night! Put down a damn rug!

Ok. Perhaps the perspective of the picture is a little wacky, but that tub looks way too small for an adult. And what’s with the toilet blue water? Is the bath water really that nasty? Also, I’m not sure if that’s steam or jets of water shooting out. Either way, that tub is way too small to act as a Jacuzzi. I must admit, however, that the pillow and the removable shower head are nice touches.

Oh right. This is an ad for a TV. Let’s put it all the way to the side of the picture and make it super small. That’ll sell our product!

Thank you for listening. I should be an interior designer.

From what I gather by randomly guessing (since I don’t know a smidge of Japanese), PIKAPIKA is a group of people who enjoy playing with pen lights and long exposure shots. Armed with these simple tools, they get cool pictures like the one above.

Even cooler are the animated gifs they make from these shots. I’d post a sample for you to see, but I don’t like moving things on my webpage. They’re distracting and they give me a headache.

Meet Elvin Chuang: Internet pervert. This 20-year-old Hunter College student has alledgedly been trolling MySpace and Facebook for dumb girls. His MO: he reads up all he can on you from your sites and then IMs you. He claims he is an old high school friend who recently changed “her” screenname. “She” gains your trust with all that “private” information she garnered from your “personal” sites, and then springs her sob story on you: She’s in trouble in her art class, and she needs tasteful nude photographs to pass the class and keep that $2,000 scholarship. If you don’t send her nude photos of yourself, you’ll be solely responsible for ruining her life. Oh, what to do?

Any normal girl would block said random internet stalker, and relate said story to all her friends over a laugh and a beer. However, dozens of girls fell for this (admittedly lame) scam. Once Elvin got the illicit pictures of these 18-19 year old girls, he began to extort more pictures from them, threatening to post their pictures all over the internet and in their schools.

Sure, Elvin is a pervert. He’s scum, and he should go to jail for the 2.5-5 years he deserves. But seriously, if you were dumb enough to fall for his little scam, you kind of deserve it. Learn some common sense before you leave college and enter the real world. Seriously.
