My friend/artist extraodinaire, Josh Liu, has started this awesome campaign, Skateboards4Trees:

I’m really excited to show you all this!

Each of these boards was originally a blank deck. They were colored with spray paint and the designs were all drawn by hand. A layer of polyurethane gloss was applied over each finished piece. The decks themselves are made of Canadian maple and pretty good for skating but I wish they’ll remain nice; hanging on your wall.

Here’s the really cool part. It’s for a good cause:
For each board, I’ll donate 10 trees to a local park.

The wallet pictured above has a bird riding a tambourine in a polka dot sea. The inside features the same (but inverted) polka dots. For $40, these aren’t too shabby.

Then I could have fun like the members of PIKAPIKA. From what I gather by randomly guessing (since I don’t know a smidge of Japanese), PIKAPIKA is a group of people who enjoy playing with pen lights and long exposure shots. Armed with these simple tools, they get cool pictures like the one above.

Even cooler are the animated gifs they make from these shots. I’d post a sample for you to see, but I don’t like moving things on my webpage. They’re distracting and they give me a headache.

Atomix – Full of Love, Full of Wonder
Australian artist Nike Savvas makes final adjustments to her art piece consisting of over 50,000 polystyrene balls at the New South Wales Art Gallery in Sydney August 3, 2006. The sculpture titled ‘Atomix – Full of Love, Full of Wonder’ , vibrates with wind from 10 fans and represents the different ’shimmering’ colours in a hot, outback landscape.
