I’m going to die in a fire.

Chuck Schumer called the UN Secretariat bulding a “fire trap.” He claims that the building violates many safety and fire codes, including a lack of an internal sprinkler system plus loads and loads of that fun material, asbestos.

Schumer also claims that in case there is a fire at the United Nations, the driveway outside (which is over an underground parking lot) would collapse from the weght of all the fire engines. It looks like the UN is just an overall death trap.

It doesn’t help that the UN Secretariat building is the only building in New York City where you can smoke indoors. I hate walking through the dense cloud of smoke surrounding the Venetian café. All I know is, this friendly neighborhood UN employee is hauling ass the second I smell smoke.
