Press Your Luck

Michael Larsen, an unemployed ice cream truck driver, spent his last few dollars on a plane ticket to LA for his chance to be on a game show called Press Your Luck in 1984. He got a spot on the show and went on an amazing run to win over $100,000. The most ever won by anyone on a game show at that time.

Turns out he memorized every possible pattern of the game show board to win his money but CBS still had to pay him since it wasn’t against the rules. He ended up blowing the money on a fake real estate scam and had the rest stolen from his home. What a sad story. :(
